OSA Festival / The Seed
In September of 2024, I participated in the Open Source Art Festival in Sopot, where I created live-generated visuals for Martina Bertoni, a composer and cellist from Berlin. The concept revolved around gigantic plant seeds moving slowly through space and time, dispersing nebulae of atoms. The idea stemmed from the notion that tiny plant seeds—nearly invisible in reality—carry immense importance, metaphorically “gigantic” because they transport information, such as plant DNA, across time and space.
I have created a system in Touchdesigner which processed pointclouds made from plant seed models. I have modeled these procedurally in Houdini and baked the textures to vertex colours. During the live event at OSA Festival, I have navigated within the Touchdesigner scene using a game controller, moving the seeds in and out of light and adjusting the point dispersion.
